About Me

The Short Version

I’m Michael Pyle, a data analyst living in New Orleans. I work at the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office, where I help turn criminal justice data into meaningful insights.

The Longer Version

I grew up in Pensacola, Florida, got my BS in Psychology from Florida State University, then headed to Georgia Southern for my MS in Experimental Psychology. I spent several years in the PhD program at New Mexico State University studying social psychology and applied statistics before transitioning to institutional research and data analysis.

My career path has taken me from academic research to higher education analytics to criminal justice data work. Along the way, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for how good data practices can drive real change.

I’m not a very serious person.

Outside of Work

When I’m not at a computer, I enjoy:

  • Soccer - If you listen closely on Sundays, you can still hear me barking orders to my defenders at Crescent City Soccer
  • Cooking - I cook it, you eat it, it’s not complicated. See the Food page.
  • Music - I’ve played the guitar for over thirty years. I’ve only improved in about three of them. See the Music page.
  • Comedy - I greatly appreciate good, clever comedy. I don’t purport to be that good or clever. Maybe some writing, maybe some jokes up on the the Comedy page.
